The Hundred: Matthew Parkinson gets rid of Chris Cooke with a superb leg-break.

With cricket pitches slowly turning out to be a paradise for batsmen, bowlers are struggling to make use of the conditions. It’s not often we see the ball turning in limited-overs games.

Batsmen get all the freedom to play shots and dominate the bowlers with such ease. Such has been the case nowadays. Nonetheless, during The Hundred competition, it showed us that even bowlers can dominate the game.

During the Manchester Originals vs Birmingham Phoenix match in The Hundred on Monday, an interesting episode transpired. Much to everyone’s surprise, the pitch at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester helped spinners.

While several bowlers thrived in the game, Matthew Parkinson was the pick of the bowlers. He came through flying colours by applying his skills to perfection. The young leggie made use of the conditions and let the ball do the talking.

Matthew Parkinson produces a sensational turning effect

Parkinson’s best performance was witnessed when he turned the ball miles. At first, he dismissed Liam Livingstone early in the game. In the process, he went on to take three more wickets off four deliveries in the fag end.

He bowled superb wicket-taking deliveries to stun the opposition team. He bowled a sharp turner to get the better of Chris Cooke and stole the spotlight. Parkinson bowled outside the leg stump and to which, Cooke tried to hit the ball on the leg side.
